Skatergirl is overwhelmed. She is working with Visitingcoach, a world famous coach from a far away country. One of the best coaches in the world.
Unfortunately, Skatergirl is having trouble. Why? Because Visitingcoach is overloading her with too many corrections.
Make sure you keep your left shoulder checked on the entrance. Oh, and make sure you flex your right foot in the air. And of course, don’t forget to land on your bottom toe pick. And make sure to keep your landing leg extended. And… And…
Skatergirl can’t process all of the information Visitingcoach is giving her. It’s too much. There’s no way that she can deal with all of it.
But, this lesson is a once in a lifetime opportunity. How can she make the most of it?
A long time ago, right after she started working with Skatercoach, Skatergirl talked with Mentalgamecoach about this exact problem.
During her lessons, Skatercoach was overwhelming Skatergirl with too much information. Skatergirl didn’t know what to do.
Mentalgamecoach gave Skatergirl two options. Talk to Skatercoach and ask her to give one correction at a time. Or, choose one of Skatercoach’s corrections and focus on it.
After her session with Mentalgamecoach, Skatergirl had a chat with Skatercoach. Skatercoach realized what was going on and instead of overloading Skatergirl with information, she started giving out her corrections one at a time.
This made it easier for Skatergirl to make the corrections, because she wasn’t overwhelmed with information, which was exactly what Mentalgamecoach was aiming for.
However, Visitingcoach is a renowned figure in the skating community, and Skatergirl doesn’t feel comfortable asking them to change their teaching style. Instead she picks one of the corrections that Visitingcoach gives her and focuses on it.
Currently, they are working on triple salchow, and one of the corrections that Visitingcoach wants Skatergirl to do is keep her head facing forward on the takeoff. Before she goes into her next rep, Skatergirl walks through the jump, focusing on the correction. And, once she has the feeling, she sets off and does a triple salchow.
